Something to think about…
No flipped learning this week, but an opportunity to practise further what we have been doing in class. Many of you are using the column method of vertical addition. Others are using other methods alongside this until you get more confident. You have been given 3 sets of questions for you to look at. Choose the section that you want to do and complete them in your learning log. House points to everyone who completes one section.
Feel free to post any questions or comments here.
Fancy more practice? Have a go at this. Can you complete level 6?
Our SPAG focus this term will the construction of sentences. To prepare you for this we would like you to find out about the following features of sentence writing. What can you find out? Which of these do you already know? Can you find any examples? Make sure that you understand what you find out. The things we would like you to explore are:
What is the difference between a phrase and a clause?
Five questions on recent news. You know what to do. House points on offer. Quiz closes at 9pm on Sunday 13th November.
- Which British Tennis player became World Number One after winning the Paris Masters?
- Who won the election to be the new President of the United States of America and which political party do they represent?

Here is the place to blog all things Hamlet!
Before watching, tell us everything you know about the play. Include plot, characters, anything that comes to mind.
During the production tomorrow you will be able to blog during the intervals about what you have just watched. Again, you can comment on anything to do with the play that interests you.
Some of you saw it at the RSC tonight whilst some of you performed it at the Saints Study Centre with Kieron.
In January you will be exploring this play more. In preparation, blog everything you now know about The Tempest.
Next week our focus will be addition. It is important that all of you are able to master the column addition method which is shown in these videos. Watch them to either remind yourself of the method or get to know it better.
We will be practising this next week but feel free to make up and have a go at some problems of your own, and bring them in on Monday.
Blog any comments or questions that you need to.
Next week is the first RSC Live School Broadcast of the year! On Thursday you will be watching the full version of Hamlet direct from the RSC theatre in Stratford. Before the broadcast we will be getting to know the play and will be basing our writing and reading learning around it.
To be prepared for this we would like you to watch this video which tells you the story of Hamlet. It would be useful for you to have some knowledge of the plot and the characters before Monday.
Feel free to blog any comments or questions here.
